Free Trip To Washington D.C. For Foster Care Alumni

FreeDCTRipWant a free trip to Washington D.C. this summer? Foster Club is specifically requesting Arizona applications to attend the “Shadow Experience,” is an all-expenses paid opportunity for young people with personal experience in the foster care system to spend time with their Congressional representative, as well as White House officials, in Washington, D.C. The dates of associated travel and events this year are Monday, May 18th through Thursday, May 21st, 2015. The application has been extended for Arizona youth until April 15, 2015… apply now!

Today, the 24-year-old – who serves on the Fostering Advocates Arizona Young Adult Leadership Board – is grateful for what she learned during classes sponsored by Opportunity Passport™.

I learned how credit works,” she said, “and about loans, savings and budgeting.”

Desaray used that knowledge to purchase a 2013 Jetta. While she’s excited about her sporty and reliable car, Desaray’s also pleased about her financially responsible choice. Thanks to Opportunity Passport™, she learned how to research car insurance as well as how to determine if she could afford her loan. Read on…

Application Deadline Approaching

Get your applications in by March 1, 2015 for the Armstrong Family Foundation Scholarship Program.

Criteria:

  • Be an orphan, ward of the court, living with extended family, in foster care, an independent student without financial support, or experienced extreme life circumstances
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful legal resident
  • Be an Arizona resident
  • Be admitted to ASU by the application deadline and seeking a degree full time
  • Have and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative academic GPA, non-weighted
  • Have a demonstrated financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Deadline: March 1st
