Finding COVID-19 resources targeted toward transition-age youth with experience in foster care can be challenging. Events are changing rapidly and it can be difficult to get up-to-date information about where to turn to for help. FAAZ is compiling a list of resources (updated 4/20/20) specifically for young people ages 14-26 living in Arizona who have experience in foster care. For a list of resources available to the larger foster care community, please check out the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation website at https://www.affcf.org/.
During COVID-19, Fostering Advocates Arizona (FAAZ) is busy creating fact sheets to help young people through this time. The Young Adult Leadership Board is pleased to introduce the first of a series of publications, Pivot to Positive: Health Care Fast Facts in Times of COVID-19. This fact sheet is created by young people for young people and those who support them. Please check it out and share it widely!

COVID-19: Transition-Age Foster Youth Needs Assessment
Thank you to the many young people transitioning from care in Arizona who participated in the COVID-19 needs assessment. The final results (see below) show that most young people are able to access health care, behavioral health care, the internet, and transportation, but many are struggling with employment, having enough food, paying bills, and accessing the items they need to care for their children.
These results are guiding FAAZ’s advocacy efforts to ensure that young people transitioning from foster care have the resources and supports they need to make it through the pandemic and move forward in achieving their goals. We will continue to use this webpage to both seek and share out information. So, follow us on social media, signup for email updates, and continue visiting fosteringadvocatesarizona.org for useful tips, tools, guides and resources. Together we are changemakers, elevating the voices of young people in foster care.
